Grey County Council has officially approved its 2025 budget, a comprehensive $302.4 million plan balancing operating and capital expenditures.
The budget incorporates $78.3 million in property taxes, representing a 3.33 per cent increase. This translates to an additional $13.46 for every $100,000 of residential property assessment or an average increase of $38.91 for single-detached homes across the county.
Warden Andrea Matrosovs says council and staff faced a challenging process in crafting the budget.
“The 2025 budget keeps Grey County on track with strategic initiatives while ensuring the levy increase remains manageable,” said Matrosovs.
Significant portions of the budget are directed toward long-term care and transportation services, which together comprise over half of the total spending. Long-term care accounts for 33 per cent of expenditures, while transportation services—including road maintenance and construction—make up 22 per cent. Grey County continues its commitment to infrastructure, with an additional 2.55 per cent of funding allocated annually for the next 15 years to address aging assets and ensure sustainable service delivery.
The final approval follows months of preparation and collaboration among staff and council to ensure financial stability and sustainability for the region.
