Saugeen Sparks Training Centre Receives $50,000 RED Grant to strengthen skilled trades training

The Saugeen Sparks Training Centre has been awarded $50,000 in funding through the Rural Economic Development (RED) Grant Program.

Rob Stanley, Executive Director of Saugeen Sparks Training Centre, is thrilled and added the significant funding will support their mission to provide experiential training leading to employment opportunities in Bruce, Grey, and Huron Counties.

The funding will be used to support staff salaries and marketing efforts.

"This funding support is essential for our growth and impact as we deliver career readiness skills and develop tomorrow’s tradespeople," said Stanley. "The RED grant enables us to invest in the people and tools needed to deliver on our mandate. By supporting salaries and marketing, we can ensure that our programs continue to effectively reach and serve our communities."

The Centre’s programs aim to empower individuals across Grey, Bruce, and Huron Counties by providing comprehensive, skills-based training and support services. Graduates frequently secure apprenticeships and employment opportunities with regional employers, bolstering workforce development and local economic growth.

Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce, expressed her support for the Centre’s initiatives.

"I am pleased to see the Saugeen Sparks Training Centre receive $50,000 through the Rural Economic Development (RED) Grant, which will help advance its important work in empowering individuals across Grey, Bruce and Huron Counties," said Thompson. "This funding enables their dedicated staff to continue to support and equip their students with the practical skills needed to succeed in today’s job market, strengthening our workforce, supporting apprenticeships, and fostering economic growth in our communities."

The RED grant will enhance the Centre’s outreach efforts, attract more participants, and foster partnerships critical to its success. By investing in staffing and marketing, the Centre ensures its programs remain accessible and impactful, contributing to a stronger local workforce and vibrant community development.
