Flood watch statement issued by multiple midwestern Ontario areas

The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA) and Municipality of West Grey is expecting to see some flooding over the next couple of days.

Each area is under a flood watch statement due to the recent snowfall causing water levels to rise in the Saugeen River.

The warmer than average temperatures being forecasted this week is also expected to create frazil ice which could cause a partial blockage between the Durham Upper Dam and Durham Middle Dam, raising levels even more.

Staff for the SVCA and West Grey are preparing to deal with any potential flooding.

The statement will remain in effect until January 20, 2025.
