Mayor's bonspiel raises money for local organizations

The second annual Mayor's Charity Bonspiel was a big success in Wellington North.

The event was held on Thursday, November 21 at the Mount Forest Curling Club. It brought together 48 enthusiastic curlers and raised an impressive $8,000 for local community organizations.

The funds raised will be distributed to the following organizations, supporting a wide range of programs and initiatives including:

• Centre Wellington Foundation - Wellington North Youth Fund: $2,500

• Saugeen Student Start Up Program: $1,500

• Wellington North Youth Programs: $500

• Wellington 4-H Association: $500

• Lunch Programs for six local schools: $500 each, for a total of $3,000

"As Mayor, I believe in supporting our local youth programs. These initiatives are vital in nurturing the talents and potential of our young people, providing them with opportunities to grow, learn, and thrive,” said Mayor Andy Lennox. “I am incredibly proud that the Mayor's Charity Bonspiel is contributing to these selected organizations, ensuring they have the resources needed to continue their invaluable work in our community."

On the ice, Team Coburn Insurance won the Late Draw and Overall Bonspiel, while Team Walker Industries won the Early Draw.
