SIU concludes no police wrongdoing following arrest of Stratford woman

The Special Investigations Unit has concluded an investigation into a summertime arrest in Stratford.

On August 21 at 2:45 a.m., Stratford Police Service officers arrested a 36-year-old Stratford woman for breaching a condition of a release order. The woman was taken to a holding cell at the Stratford Police Station.

At 11 a.m. that same day, the woman was found to be in medical distress in her cell. Paramedics were called in, and first responders administered multiple doses of Narcan to the woman.

The woman was then taken to Stratford General Hospital to be treated for an overdose.

SIU Director Joseph Martino has determined there were no reasonable grounds to believe that an officer committed a criminal offence in connection with the woman’s hospitalization.
