Wellington North council has approved the 2025 budget with a 3.27 per cent tax levy increase.
Council approved the capital and operating budgets at the December 16 meeting. The levy increase of 3.27 per cent represents an increase of approximately $47.80 in the township portion of the property tax for a typical single-family residential property in the township assessed at $271,636.
The capital budget is set at what the municipality calls "an ambitious" total of $12,670,821, funding a variety of projects for the coming year.
Projects include the upper hall renovation at the Arthur and Area Community Centre, a renovation of the former Arthur Municipal Office, as well as numerous road projects throughout the municipality.
"This budget reflects our commitment to maintaining the high-quality services our residents rely on while addressing the growing infrastructure needs of our community,” said Mayor Andy Lennox. “Despite the inflationary challenges we face, we have strategically allocated resources to ensure sustainable growth and development. I am confident that these investments will enhance the quality of life for all our residents and support the continued prosperity of Wellington North."
