Driver goes to police station, gets charged with impaired

Getting behind the wheel of a vehicle while drunk is never acceptable, even if it is to go to the police station to make a complaint.

According to Perth OPP, a person came to their detachment in North Perth to speak to an officer about a dispute just before 6:30 a.m. last Sunday. During that conversation the officer determined the person, who had allegedly driven themself to the police station, was impaired.

The individual was arrested.

A 40-year-old North Perth resident has since been charged with impaired driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. Their driver's licence has also been suspended for 90 days and their vehicle impounded for a week.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charge on January 9.

Police are reminding the public to always report suspected impaired drivers by calling OPP or the nearest police authority.
