Perth County OPP charge driver after collision and assault

Ontario Provincial Police in Perth County have charged a 36-year-old following a collision in Perth East.

The incident happened on Saturday, November 16, 2024. A two-vehicle collision occurred on Perth Line 33 just before 6 p.m. According to police, the driver of one vehicle ran from the scene. Police say a passenger in the vehicle was assaulted before the crash.

With help from the West Region OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team, officers located and arrested a suspect by 8:30 p.m.

The accused faces several charges, including assault with a weapon (spousal), dangerous operation, failing to remain at the scene, and driving without a license. They remain in custody pending a bail hearing.
