Barn fire closes road south of Mildmay

A barn fire sent thick smoke into the air south of Mildmay Thursday morning.

Firefighters were called to the farm on Concession 2 between Bruce Road 28 and Sideroad 5 South in Carrick Township shortly before 9 a.m.

There is no word on whether any people or animals were hurt in the fire. As of 10 a.m., fire crews were still on scene working to extinguish the flames.

South Bruce OPP have the section of Concession 2 closed in order to allow firefighters to work safely.

People are asked to avoid the area until further notice.
