The County of Huron’s Economic Development Department has launched a new Supporting Local Youth (SLY) program, to offer grants up to $1,000 for youth-led initiatives and activities in Huron County.
Eligible projects are youth-led and provide opportunities for Huron County residents between ages 14 and 19.
The projects should fit into one of seven priority areas:
• Social Cohesion
• Community Connectedness
• Creative Expression
• Social Justice Issues
• Climate Change and Sustainability
• Mental Health
• Financial Literacy and/or New Economic Activities
Funding applications are due by 4:30 PM on November 22, 2024.
Applications will be assessed and awarded on a merit basis. Projects are assessed by a review panel made up of representatives from Huron County’s Economic Development Board, Huron Arts & Heritage Network (HAHN) and community youth from the target demographic.
“The Supporting Local Youth program helps teens and young adults to kick start their ideas and projects for the benefit of their local community,” said Vicki Lass, Director of Economic Development for the County of Huron. “We’re very pleased to offer a program that increases opportunities for youth in Huron County!”
