Final week for comments on Bruce C Nuclear Project

The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) is putting out one last call for comments on the planning phase of the Bruce Power's new nuclear generating station.

Public comments will be accepted online until October 28.

The original deadline for comment was September 12, but Bruce Power asked for that time limit to be paused to allow for "additional engagement activities to occur."

The proposed Bruce C Nuclear Project would provide up to 4,800 megawatt-electric of new nuclear generating capacity in Ontario and operate for 60 to 100 years. The IAAC has a 180-day period when it can provide notice that an impact assessment will begin, if it determines one is required. They still have 116 days left.

The IAAC and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission are working together on the assessment. They ask that "comments be based on local, regional, or Indigenous Knowledge of the site or surrounding environment, or provide any other relevant information that may support the conduct of the assessment."
