Saugeen First Nation fire officials have determined a wildfire in the area on Monday was suspicious and preventable.
Firefighters were called to the significant, multi-acre wildfire on the territory after a passerby spotted smoke and flames. It took crews nine hours to extinguish the fire.
In a post to social media, Saugeen Fire and Emergency Services called the fire "suspicious and preventable."
Fire officials are urging anyone who witnesses any suspicious activity to report it to the West Region OPP by calling 911.
They are also reminding the public that conditions for wildfires in the area remain favorable and caution should be used in wooded parts of the region.
