Huron County OPP say a relative of one of two men missing since 1967 has been found, and they are hoping to find more.
And so, police are appealing for a DNA sample from family members of the men.
On October 22, 1967, police received a missing person's report involving two men that had departed for a fishing trip from the Port of Goderich. Both men were never seen again.
Neil Wormsbecker and Hank Englebertus Halff were ages 29 and 30, respectively, when they went missing in Lake Huron. Both men lived in or around Stratford at the time of their disappearances.
On October 2, 2024, police appealed for the public's help in locating biological family members for the two men. Several tips were received, which resulted in a biological family member being located for Mr. Halff.
The OPP is still seeking any remaining biological family members to come forward for Mr. Wormsbecker and provide a DNA sample to compare against all samples of found human remains in the DNA database.
Anyone with information can contact Huron County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
