Battle of the Badges charity game coming to Listowel

A friendly charity hockey game is coming to Listowel.

The Perth County OPP and Perth County Fire Services will host the annual Battle of the Badges charity hockey game at the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex on Sunday, October 20 at 1 p.m.

The annual fundraiser is in support of Victim Services Huron Perth. Prior to the game, the public can enjoy a complimentary public skate from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., sponsored by the Perth County Auto Theft Prevention Team.

Admission is by cash donation or non-perishable food item, which will go directly to the Salvation Army Food Bank.

"The North Perth Fire Department and the Perth County Mutual Aid Association is proud to partner with Perth County OPP to host the 2024 Battle of the Badges charity hockey game. It promises to be a great afternoon of hockey for the whole family, in support of Victim Services Huron Perth. We hope to see the stands at the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex filled with fans," said North Perth Fire Chief Janny Pape.

"I encourage members of the public to come out and cheer for your favourite First Responder as members of Perth County OPP Battle the Perth County Mutual Aid Fire Association. We are facing off on the ice to support Victim Services Huron Perth. Admission by cash donation or non-perishable food item. Perth County OPP Auxiliary Unit will also be on hand collecting non-perishable items for the Salvation Army Food Bank. The public is invited to the free family skate before the game," added Perth County OPP Sergeant Barry Cookson.

"Victim Services Huron Perth is excited to be part of this event. It is always a good time to watch Police and Fire square off on the ice to bring some action-packed entertainment to the spectators. We appreciate the community spirit of coming together to support the fundraising efforts of Victim Services Huron Perth. We hope to see many of the community out to share in the free ice-skating opportunity before sticking around to watch the game," shared Deborah Logue, Executive Director Victim Services Huron Perth.
