Mildmay trio wins $100K lotto prize

Vehicle upgrades and a new camper trailer are in the future of three women from Mildmay following a six-figure lottery win.

Emily Lamont, Carrie Newton, and Rosanne (Rose) Breig won the $100,000 Encore prize in the July 2 Lotto Max draw. The trio matched the last six of seven numbers in exact order to clinch the win.

The women have been using the same numbers they drew out of a hat when they first began playing the lottery together four years ago. This is their first big win.

“I was enjoying a cup of tea in the morning when I decided to check our ticket,” Lamont said while the group picked up their winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I first shared the news with my husband, and then I called Rose. She couldn’t believe what I was telling her. Then, I called Carrie, and she was just as shocked.”

Newton added that the win "doesn't feel real quite yet." A statement both Lamont and Breig agreed with.

Newton and Breig both plan on using their share of the winnings to get new vehicles, while Lamont plans on purchasing a new camper trailer.

The winning ticket was bought at the Circle K on Elora Street in Mildmay.
