Registration opens for Afro Caribbean Youth Awards

The Municipality of Kincardine will host the Afro Caribbean Youth Awards On Saturday October 26, 2024.

The awards were created to recognize and celebrate Afro Caribbean Youth living in Grey and Bruce counties.

The ceremony will take place at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, and Philip Saunders will be the special guest speaker.

"Saunders is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and creator of the Afrocentric Mural at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine," a media release from organizers said. "His work spans Ontario and includes oil paintings, charcoal drawings, murals, and digital illustrations."

The second annual Afro Caribbean Youth Awards will honour youth who show characteristics such as Creativity, Leadership, Cultural Dignity, Academic Excellence, Community Involvement, Advocacy for Social Justice, Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion or Athleticism.
