The Wingham and District Hospital emergency department was temporarily closed for a portion of the day on September 29.
The Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance made the announcement that the ED in Wingham would be closed from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
LWHA stated that the closure was due to "staffing shortages" and the organization regreted having to close the ED in Wingham.
Ambulances were to bypass the hospital during the closure period and travel to the nearest open ED.
