The Town of Hanover is mourning the loss of Deputy Fire Chief Craig MacArthur, a respected member of the community who dedicated 35 years to the Hanover Fire Department.
MacArthur passed away on September 26, 2024, at the age of 58, surrounded by his family.
Craig MacArthur's career with the Hanover Fire Department began as a volunteer firefighter and grew into a role marked by leadership and commitment. Over the course of his career, Craig served in various positions, including firefighter, pump operator, captain, and platoon chief, before being promoted to Deputy Fire Chief, a role he held for the past seven years.
"Craig was respected for his fire knowledge and experience both locally and regionally," said Mayor Sue Paterson. "His passion and commitment to fire service have positively impacted our department and the broader community."
Craig is survived by his wife Rhonda, his children, grandchildren, and his mother Betty Viner.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Hanover Legion on October 12, 2024, from 2 to 5 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to the Hanover Fire Department in Craig's name, a fitting tribute to his lifelong dedication to protecting his community.
