The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is dropping an investigation into the arrest of 19-year-old in Hanover.
The provincial police watchdog was notified a few days after the teen arrested on June 1, in front of the Circle K convenience store in connection with an assault. The accused contacted the Hanover Police Service on June 4 saying his wrist was fractured after the arresting officer had applied the handcuffs too tightly, and the SIU was notified.
According to SIU Director Joseph Martino, the accused refused to release his medical records or provide a statement during preliminary inquiries. As a result, Martino found there was insufficient evidence of a "serious injury" to warrant further investigation.
