Arrest made following dismantling of "clandestine lab"

One person has been arrested following the dismantling of what police called a "clandestine lab" in Walkerton.

On September 9, South Bruce OPP responded to a report of an incident involving a firearm. The accused and the victim were known to each other and police believed it was an isolated incident.

Following that, on September 11, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Walkerton, and the accused from the weapons incident was taken into custody. During the search of the residence, officers discovered a clandestine drug lab. The OPP, alongside other agencies, managed to safely dismantle the lab.

Investigators seized a .22 caliber handgun, a quantity of suspected MDMA, precursors for drug production, as well as several pieces of production equipment as a result of the search warrant. The combined estimated street value of the seized controlled substances is approximately $25,000.

As a result, a 51-year-old Walkerton resident is facing numerous drugs and weapons charges. The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Walkerton Ontario Court of Justice on September 20.
