The Collingwood and Blue Mountains OPP have charged a pair of teens and seized several weapons after investigating a threat made to a local school in the spring.
On Wednesday, police received a report regarding a potential threat to Collingwood Collegiate Institute that was allegedly made by a former student. OPP said the threat was not imminent as it had been made in March 2024, but still elected to investigate.
During the investigation, police determined that the former student may have had weapons in his vehicle and residence in Clearview Township.
When OPP attended the home, officers allegedly found two firearms and several high-capacity magazines, all improperly stored and without a valid licence.
The former student's vehicle was later stopped in a parking lot on Cameron Street, where the driver and a passenger were arrested without incident.
During the arrest, OPP said officers seized two replica firearms, bear spray, pepper spray, a knife, and brass knuckles.
The former student, an 18-year-old from Clearview, is facing charges including uttering threats, three counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, and three counts of careless storage of firearm.
The passenger, an 18-year-old from Collingwood, was charged with two counts of possession of a prohibited device for a dangerous purpose and breach of a sentence order.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Huronia West OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
