Accidental fire causes estimated $50K of damage

Fire crews were able to stop a garage attic fire Wednesday evening before it spread too far.

The Wellington North Fire Service (WNFS) was called to a house fire on Wellington Road 109 between Hwy 6 and Line 1 shortly before 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officials said that smoke was coming out of the roof when crews arrived. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze to the attic above the garage, with only minor smoke damage to the house.

No injuries were reported due to the fire.

WNFS determined that the cause of the fire was accidental and estimated the damages at $50,000.
