Man arrested twice in just over 12 hours

Provincial police in South Bruce arrested the same man in a little over a 12 hour span, first for allegedly driving while impaired, and then for driving with a suspended licence.

According to OPP, it began when an officer pulled over a vehicle on Tie Road in the Municipality of Kincardine after getting a tip about a possible impaired driver just before 11:30 p.m. last Thursday. Police said the driver showed signs of impairment by drugs and was taken to the local detachment for testing.

The driver is alleged to have failed the test and, as a result, had his licence suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for a week.

The following day, just after noon, an OPP officer stopped an ATV on Campbell Street in the Township of Huron-Kinloss. The driver was the same person who had been charged and had his licence suspended just over 12 hours earlier, police said.

A 41-year-old from Orilla is charged with driving while impaired by drugs, driving while under suspension, and possession of methamphetamine.
