Saugeen Shores has announced the rehabilitation work for the Scott and Gowanlock Bridges will soon get underway.
The work will begin on Scott Bridge first, meaning Concession Road 6 will be closed at Scott Bridge between Hwy. 21 and Sideroad 13/14 starting September 16, 2024, and continuing for about three weeks.
Then Concession Road 8E will be closed at Gowanlock Bridge between Bruce Road 17 and Bruce Road 3 starting October 7 for approximately three weeks.
A notice from the municipality said the temporary road closures are necessary as each bridge structure is currently in the need of remedial work.
The Scott Bridge project includes the installation of slope stabilization (rip-rap) along the west embankment under the structure, minor concrete repairs to girder ends, the removal and replacement of expansion joint seals, asphalt paving at each approach, and the replacement of rotten barrier posts. Work on the Gowanlock Bridge includes localized re-coating of steel barrier posts and pier armouring, localized concrete repairs along the exterior soffit, the replacement of rotten barrier posts, and repair to the asphalt approaches
During the roadway closures, access will be maintained to all private properties located within the construction limits at each site.
