Front Line Policing Grant to put more cops near schools

A grant will see more police near local schools this upcoming school year.

In 2023, Huron County OPP successfully partnered and made an application with the Town of Goderich, Municipality of Central Huron and Avon Maitland District School Board to the Ministry of the Solicitor General Front-Line Policing Grant.

The grant will "support enhancements to traffic and public safety through increased police visibility around schools in Goderich and Central Huron."

Community security was identified as a key priority by the Huron Community Safety and Well-Being Plan. Part of that is ensuring that students and school staff are safe.

The Huron County OPP says over the next few months the public can expect to see "an increased police presence in and around schools in Goderich and Central Huron to promote community engagement and safety through education and enforcement."
