Public Health seeks dog owner in Port Elgin bite incident

Grey Bruce Public Health is looking for the owner of a small brown dog that bit a person in Port Elgin Tuesday morning.

The Health Unit says around 6:45 a.m., a woman was bitten by a light brown dog, believed to be a poodle mix, near the roundabout at Devonshire Road and Waterloo Street.

The dog was reportedly with a man in his 70s.

GBPH says staff need to confirm the dog is not infectious with rabies, so the victim can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call Grey Bruce Public Health at 519-376-9420 ext. 1307.
