A 65-year-old man is facing nearly a dozen charges after a house fire in Georgian Bluffs that police allege was intentionally set.
Emergency crews were called to the blaze on Berford Street around 6:12 a.m. last Saturday after the resident was woken up by a smoke alarm and found fire coming from the basement.
Firefighters from the South Bruce Peninsula Fire Department and the Intertownship Fire Department extinguished the fire and assisted with the investigation that followed.
A damage estimate has not been provided and no injuries were reported.
Grey Bruce OPP determined a man was seen just ten minutes prior to the house fire with incendiary material near a vehicle on Bruce Street in South Bruce Peninsula.
A 65-year-old man from South Bruce Peninsula is charged with ten offences including arson with disregard for human life, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, breaking and entering, possession of incendiary material, mischief under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon.
