Conservation Authority re-opens two sites, with closure announced for another

The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority has re-opened two local sites and announced a closure for a third.

The SVCA says the Allan Park Conservation Area on Concession 2 near Hanover is now open again to the public. This follows "extensive forest management efforts" following damage done by the emerald ash borer in the area. All trails within the area are now open.

Additionally, the Mildmay/Carrick Managed Forest area, located along Bruce Road 28 near Mildmay, is also re-opened to the public. Repairs were needed following trail damage caused by illegal vehicles in the area. SVCA is reminding everyone that off-road vehicles, such as ATVs and dirt bikes, are prohibited on all SVCA lands.

The SVCA has also announced an immediate closure at the Stoney Island Conservation Area near Tiverton. The closure will allow crews to remove roughly 7,300 ash trees that have been decimated by the emerald ash borer. The closure will be in place for at least the next three months.

Any trespassing on the property during this time could endanger the trespasser or crew members. Severe penalties and charges can be laid if you are found trespassing on the property during this closure.
