Georgian Bluffs winds down summer with two outdoor movie nights

An action-packed tribute to Hollywood stuntmen and new and old Ghostbusters joining forces to save the world from a second ice age will help Georgian Bluffs close out the summer in cinematic style.

The township has announced it will be holding outdoor family movie nights on the last two Fridays of the month.

This Friday, movie lovers can head to Kemble Athletic Fields to watch "The Fall Guy" and on August 30 they can gather at Shallow Lake Arena for a screening of "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire." Gates open at 7 p.m. with movies to start at dusk.

"Last year, our singular outdoor movie night at Shallow Lake Arena saw an incredible turnout with an estimate of over 200 attendees," the township said in a statement. "This year, we're excited to offer two movie nights, providing more opportunities for families to come together and enjoy these special events. "

People planning on taking in the outdoor movie experience can bring blankets and lawn chairs to sit on. Local food vendors will be on hand selling snacks and there will be outdoor games and activities.

While the two movie nights are open to everyone, the township is encouraging attendees to make a $20 donation per carload or a $5 donation per walk-in. All proceeds will go toward funding future community events in Georgian Bluffs.

The Georgian Bluffs movie nights are sponsored by Barry’s Construction, Benmet Steel & Metal, Eh!Tel Networks, and Hutten Co. Land and Shore.
