Traffic stop leads to drug charges

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged two people after pulling over a vehicle in Bruce County.

According to police, officers were patrolling on Highway 21 near Chesley Lake Road around 4:25 p.m. on Friday when they received an automated licence plate recognition system (ALPR) alert for a suspended driver.

Police pulled the vehicle over and determined that the driver was not the owner of the vehicle had a prohibited licence. A search of the vehicle turned up cannabis, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and ecstasy, police said.

A 28-year-old from Saugeen Shores has been charged with:

  • Operation while prohibited under the criminal code

  • Driving while under suspension

  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling

  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid

  • Fail to comply with probation order

A 34-year-old from Huron-Kinloss has been charged with:

  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid

  • Carrying concealed weapon

  • Unauthorized possession of weapon

  • Disobeying order of court

  • Fail to comply with probation order
