Kincardine Cruise night supports local hospital

The August 2 Kincardine Cruise night will help fuel the $79 million rebuild of Kincardine hospital.

Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation Capital Campaign Manager Mark Womack said it is a great opportunity to support local health care.

"We actually have a great group of volunteers who have offered to match the first $25,000 in donations made that night," Womack explained. "So the foundation could potentially raise over $50,000 that evening."

Womack pointed out the foundation plans to raise $18 million for the hospital project, which will expand the facilities footprint on Queen Street.

"We're going to get an MRI scanner, to have an MRI machine locally," he continued. "We'll triple the size of our emergency department. Our lab is going to triple in the amount of procedures it's going to be able to do."

The Foundation has gathered a team of volunteers led by co-chairs Kathryn Freimanis and Graham Mahood and includes current and retired health care workers, businesspeople, and interested community members.

Womack said about 600 classic cars are expected to fill Queen Street in Kincardine Friday night.

"We're going to have just a lot of cruisers, and people showing up to see these amazing cars. It's just a fun night out to celebrate and to help fundraise for the the kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation,," he added. "It goes from four until nine that evening, and like I say, the main street of Kincardine, Queen Street, is going to be shut down, and people can wander and look at the amazing cars, And talk to the people that bring them. You know, there's going to be some entertainment, and there's going to be food."

Media personality Dennis Gage will be the Grand Marshal. Gage hosts “My Classic Car”, a television show about classic automobiles.

Donations can be made at the Foundation table located in front of the HuronTel building during the car show or anytime on August 2nd online at www.kincardinefoundation.ca
