Driver charged after 'excessive' engine revving catches attention of Perth OPP

A driver whose alleged excessive engine revving drew the attention of a Perth OPP officer had their vehicle taken away.

The officer was on general patrol in Mitchell around 2 p.m. last Thursday when they spotted a driver in a pickup truck repeatedly revving their engine. The vehicle was stopped at a red light on Ontario Road at the time, police said.

The officer pulled the driver over and conducted a vehicle inspection that found the truck had improper tires and no mudguards. As a result, the vehicle was deemed unfit for the road and was towed from the scene.

A 20-year-old from St. Paul's Station is charged with unnecessary noise, having improper tires, and no mudguards.
