Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP accepting Coronation Medal nominations

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound residents who have made a significant contribution to the region or Canada as a whole could find themselves awarded a piece of history.

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff is accepting nominations to award 20 of his constituents with a Coronation Medal. The medal commemorates the Coronation of King Charles III as King of Canada and is the first Canadian commemorative medal marking His Majesty's coronation, which took place in May 2023.

The Government of Canada minted 30,000 Coronation Medals that bear a crowned and robed effigy of King Charles III.

Each Member of Parliament has been provided with 20 medals to hand out to people in their ridings. In order to be eligible for a medal, candidates must have made a significant contribution to Canada or to a particular province, territory, region or community of the country, or have made an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada. Those nominated for a medal also have to have been alive on May 6, 2023.

“I look forward to recognizing 20 very deserving constituents who have made a difference in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound with the special Coronation Medal," Ruff said in a statement.

Nomination forms for constituents of Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound can be found online at www.alexruffmp.ca/coronationmedal or at Ruff's constituency office in Owen Sound.

Submissions will be accepted until September 2.
