UPDATE: One beach deemed unsafe after retesting

Only one Huron-Perth beach has been deemed unsafe for swimming after retesting by the local health unit.

The inspection team is asking swimmers to avoid the Port Blake Beach, which has reported E. coli levels higher than the Ministry of Health guidelines.

Originally, heavy rainfall on Wednesday contributed to a season-high six beaches testing positive for high levels of bacteria..

But after samples were taken on Friday, the Goderich Rotary Cove, Black’s Point, Houston Heights, St. Joseph’s and Hay Township Park beaches have been given the okay.

The inspection team will be out again next week testing the waters. Results will be available on Thursday at the Health Unit's website.
