Three people charged in $16K Hanover drug bust

A call about suspicious people ended with Hanover police arresting two women and a man and seizing more than $16,000 worth of fentanyl and cocaine.

Officers were notified about the trio in a parking lot on 10th Street west of Grey Road 28 around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. They arrived to find two women and a man. One of the women, a 33-year-old from West Grey, was wanted by Stratford police, while the 43-year-old man from Hanover was wanted by local police. Both were quickly arrested.

The second woman, a 42-year-old from Hanover, was taken into custody after police allege she had been driving a vehicle while impaired by drugs.

During the arrests, police seized more than $15,000 worth of fentanyl and $1,800 worth of cocaine. Used needles and other drug paraphernalia were also found.

"The Hanover Police Service wants to thank the members of the public for contacting the police and reporting this suspicious activity that resulted in these arrests and the seizure of a significant quantity of dangerous drugs from our streets," police said in a statement issued on Thursday. "It's another great example of the police and our citizens working together to make our community safer for everyone."

All three of the accused are charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

The 42-year-old woman faces additional charges of driving while impaired by drugs and driving while prohibited.
