Ricco Foods holds a grand opening in Seaforth

A new business in Huron East introduced itself to the community Monday morning with a grand opening.

Ricco Foods hosted a grand opening ceremony in Seaforth Monday, complete with a ribbon-cutting from Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson.

The Strathroy-based company took over the former Sunrise Market this spring, located at 139 Sparling Street.

President Don Windsor said it made sense to expand this way.

"We opened a cash and carry in Strathroy, I think in 2018 or 19, and we had good success with the locals, as well as a lot of people from up in Grand Bend and Seaforth and that way stop in," he said. "So we thought, let's open a facility in Seaforth and look after the people up there."

After some renovations, including bringing in a statue of their mascot, the wholesaler was ready for a public introduction.

Windsor says the company is big on supporting local groups and plans to do so in its new home.

"We sponsor the local soccer association, the minor ball hockey, all the service clubs," he said. "We have the soccer facilities named after us, we sponsor part of the skate park and the Lions disc golf. We support Strathroy quite well and we're going to do the same thing in Seaforth, we're going to become a good community partner."

You can visit the store from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
