Saugeen Shores celebrates National Indigenous Peoples Day

Saugeen Shores is celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day.

The annual day recognizes and celebrates the contributions, distinct heritage, and diverse cultures of First Nations, Inuit and Métis across Canada.

To help celebrate, Saugeen Shores has raised the flag of Saugeen First Nation and is holding educational events.

The Bruce County Museum is offering free admission on June 21 and will be providing a guided tour of the Anishinaabwe Endaat Gallery from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

You can find more information about the guided tour here.

“I am proud to once again raise the flag of Saugeen First Nation as we celebrate local Indigenous communities and I encourage all to take time to discover and support Indigenous authors, artists, and local businesses,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “Our Town remains committed to being a collaborative and supportive partner to neighbouring First Nations guided by the principles of Truth and Reconciliation.”
