People can cool off at the Elora Quarry Conservation Area as it opens for the season beginning June 22, 2024.
The online ticket system, which offers admission to the site, is now open to both Conservation Area members and the general public.
The ticketing system was developed in 2021 to improve the visitor experience and protect the natural environment.
The two-acre former limestone quarry features cliffs up to 12 metres high, a small sandy beach, a one-kilometre trail, and picnic areas.
It's a day-use property with a capacity limit of 300 people or 150 vehicles per time slot.
When booking tickets, people can choose one of two four-hour time periods per day. The first time slot is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., while the second is from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Every Friday afternoon, the internet ticket site releases tickets for the upcoming week. Each car that enters the premises must pay a $15 parking fee. Tickets and parking passes are not for sale at the gate.
The cost of admission for non-members is $11 for people ages 13-64, $5.75 for children ages 4-12 and $8 for adults with disabilities or who are 65-years and older. Children ages 3-years and younger are free.
Grand River Conservation Area members can reserve tickets for entrance to the Elora Quarry Conservation Area at no charge through the online ticketing system. Parking passes, however, must be purchased online in advance. Membership covers entrance for up to five guests.
