Community Living North Perth is part of a fundraising event on May 27 in Listowel.
The organization has partnered with Stacked Pancake and Breakfast House in Listowel to help raise money to celebrate Community Living Month. Tracy Wareham, Community Engagement Lead with Community Living North Perth, explains the partnership.
"From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., 10 percent of all the sales will come back to Community Living North Perth to enhance our programs and supports for the people that we support," Wareham shared.
CLNP helps to support those locally with intellectual disabilities, and this fundraiser is part of Community Living Month.
"So it's bringing awareness to Community Living agencies and the Community Living movement. It's promoting authentic community inclusion for people that have an intellectual disability. We have 119 Community Living agencies across Ontario and we just wanna build more awareness and promote all the great work that we do," added Wareham.
Take out orders are available, as well, and members of the Community Living North Perth family will be at the restaurant to greet customers.
Wareham says any funds that are raised will help with a number of programs that aren't directly funded by the government. She also adds that Community Living has only seen their budgeted funding from the province increase by just 3 percent over the last 30 years.
"So we have our Summer Support program, that we run every summer, for students aged 14-21. That program is not funded at all by the government, it runs totally on fundraised dollars. It will also go to providing some extras for people we support, which could include doing more local and community activities and events," said Wareham.
Also, from May 28-June 1, Impressions Bakery in Listowel will be selling a special limited edition Blue Raspberry Dipped Donut, which will be available for walk in purchase, as well as pre-order. $1 from every donut will come back to support CLNP programs.
