Outages across the region from Friday's high winds

Hydro One says crews are out in full force Saturday responding to hundreds of outages caused by high winds.

According to Environment Canada, wind speeds reached over 90 km/hr on Friday night along the shores of Lake Huron, resulting in a number of downed trees and damaged power outages.

Hydro One says they've mobilized crews from other parts of the province along with our contractors and LDC partners to assist with restoration efforts.

Outages have been reported in Kincardine, Goderich, Saugeen Shores, Huron-Kinloss, Bluewater, South Bruce and North Huron, to name a few. Most do not have an estimated time of restoration.

If you don't see an outage impacting you on the Hydro One outage map, customers can report their outage by texting 92887 (WATTS) or by calling 1-800-434-1235.

Hydro One says additional outages are expected today as high winds continue throughout the day.

They remind residents to stay clear of any fallen power lines. If you spot a fallen line, keep at least 10 metres back, report it to 911 and call Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.
