South Bruce seeking feedback on upcoming referendum

The Municipality of South Bruce is looking for public feedback as it prepares for a referendum on the deep geological repository.

Council is considering the wording of the question that will be posed to voters in a 2024 by-election.

So far the proposed question is: are you in favour of the Municipality of South Bruce declaring South Bruce to be a willing host for the Nuclear Waste Management Organization’s proposed Deep Geological Repository?

Electors are invited to provide comments on the passage of the referendum by-law and the wording of the potential question.

The deadline for providing a written comment is April 11. The can be sent to the Clerk at: vkennedy@southbruce.ca.

Comments from the public will be presented at a special meeting of council on April 16.

The referendum will be considered at the April 23 meeting.
