UPDATE: OPP evacuation in Exeter over

Huron County OPP say residents and businesses can now return after evacuating a section of Exeter's Main Street this afternoon due to an ongoing investigation.

Police have now cleared the area and have reopened all roadways that were previously closed.

In a release, OPP thank "business owners, residents, and the Municipality of South Huron, South Huron Fire Department, and the Huron East Fire Department for their assistance and patience in this matter."

Police still have yet to release information what the investigation was about, despite the disturbance caused to the public.

It's the second straight day OPP have shut down a section of the town due to an ongoing investigation.

A police spokesperson said the evacuations were precautionary as "the residential location of interest requires police to have the area clear for vehicle and personnel movement."

Police closed John Street between Andrew Street and Main Street South and shut down Main Street South between Huron Street and Wellington Street during the investigation

The area was also closed yesterday as officers executed a warrant and took one suspect into custody. Police have not shared details on what charges were laid, or what today's investigation pertains to.
