Hanover Police Service has arrested one person following a recent disturbance.
Police say on March 1, officers responded to an assault and firearms call at a residence on 13th Avenue in Hanover. Officers determined a resident of the home was assaulted and that the male suspect had taken off prior to police arrival.
The suspect was later found hiding in the basement of another building. Police ordered the suspect to come out at gunpoint, and the suspect complied. A search of the area located the suspect’s sawed-off shotgun that was stashed prior to his arrest.
A 32-year-old man from Kitchener is now facing 11 charges, including Assault, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.
The accused was remanded into custody at his bail hearing later that day. The investigation remains ongoing.
