Grey Bruce OPP busy with cars in ditches

Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were busy over the past few days after finding multiple vehicles in ditches.

Just after 2:30 a.m. on Friday, police received reports of a black sedan in a ditch with its lights on.

When officers arrived at the scene on Story Book Park Road in Meaford they found the vehicle with no suspects in sight. Investigators determined that the car had been stolen from the Hamilton area on December 7, 2023.

Police have contacted Hamilton police to inform the owner that the vehicle has been located.

The investigation is ongoing.

On Friday night, just before 10:30 p.m., OPP officers patrolling Highway 6 in Georgian Bluffs saw a vehicle upside down in the ditch.

As police were speaking to the driver, they found that the 22-year-old was displaying signs of impairment.

After failing a breath test, the driver was taken to the OPP detachment in Wiarton for further testing. The Georgian Bluffs resident has been charged with driving while intoxicated.
