Ontario's police watchdog has concluded its investigation into a shooting in Seaforth that involved a police officer.
On October 18, Huron County OPP officers were called regarding a stolen vehicle in Seaforth in the morning.
Officers located the vehicle and followed it in an unmarked police vehicle to a residence in Seaforth. Police approached the vehicle, and an altercation took place.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) was notified of the incident and initiated an investigation.
At some point during the interaction, an officer discharged their weapon into the stolen vehicle before it fled the scene.
A 35-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were shot by the officer.
SIU Director Joseph Martino determined there were no reasonable grounds to believe that the officer who fired his weapon committed a criminal offence in connection with the injuries to both individuals.
