Police make arrest following drug trafficking investigation

The Collingwood OPP have arrested and charged one person following a local drug trafficking investigation.

Police began investigating an individual in January of 2024 after receiving information that an unknown make was going to numerous locations in Collingwood and allegedly trafficking cocaine.

On February 12, officers spotted the suspect in question in Collingwood and conducted a traffic stop and placed the accused under arrest. Police seized approximately 3 ounces of cocaine, nearly $7,000 in Canadian currency and other items believed to be proceeds of crime, including expensive jewellery.

Collingwood OPP were assisted by the Greater Sudbury Police Service with the execution of a search warrant in Hanmer, Ontario, where evidence was seized related to this investigation. The value of all the items seized by police is estimated to be over $40,000.

As a result, a 35-year-old from Toronto was arrested and now faces multiple drug related charges.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on March 5, 2024.
