211 Day raising awareness of local information service

Sunday, February 11 is 211 Day, which highlights the United Way and the local free information service connecting people to resources.

By dialling 211, people can access and be connected to local community programs, social services, government supports, and more. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year in over 150 languages.

The 211 service is meant to help people find resources before they reach a crisis point. People can reach out for help with mental health or substance use, in-home support for aging parents, food-related needs and more. Calling or texting 211, or visiting 211ontario.ca, can help.

Last year there were 2,642 calls to 211 Ontario, and 3,467 visits to the website from people across Perth-Huron looking for information on local programs and services.

To donate to the United Way to maintain the 211 service, you can donate to the United Way annual campaign at perthhuron.unitedway.ca.
