Huron County man facing 11 charges after alleged county-wide scam unveiled

Ontario Provincial Police in Huron County confirm eleven charges have been laid against a Goderich resident following several incidents of alleged fraud related to construction, renovation, and landscaping.

OPP allege the 30-year-old allegedly orchestrated a series of fraudulent activities that resulted in multiple complaints in 2022 and 2023. Police say all complainants reported similar experiences, in which upfront monetary deposits were provided in exchange for promised work. However, the suspect allegedly failed to deliver on commitments and would sever communication with the deceived customers.

The reported monetary losses in this investigation exceed a combined $74,000.

The accused faces five counts of fraud under $5,000, and six counts of fraud over $5,000. He is scheduled to appear in court in Goderich on March 11, 2024.
