December home sales in Grey and Bruce were well below numbers from a year ago.
The 82 units sold through the MLS System of the Realtors Association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound, represented a steep 23.4 per cent drop from December 2022.
Home sales were 39.3 per cent below the five-year average and 41.2 per cent below the 10-year average for the month of December. However, annual home sales for 2023 were on par with 2022, down just 0.2 per cent, or five sales from 2022.
The MLS Home Price Index (HPI) composite benchmark price was $548,600 in December 2023, a slight reduction of 0.5 per cent compared to December 2022. The more comprehensive annual average price was $640,044, a decline of 7.7 per cent from all of 2022 .The dollar value of all home sales in December 2023 was $55.3 million, down sharply by 19.6 per cent from the same month in 2022.
There were 152 new residential listings in December 2023, which is up 55.1 per cent from December 2022.
