Canadian agriculture is rallying to make its voice heard through the #ShowYourReceipts campaign, an opportunity to communicate the impact of the carbon tax on farmers, growers, and ranchers.
Farmers are urged to upload receipts showcasing the carbon tax portion of their natural gas or propane bills. The submitted data, including only the contributor's first name, province, and the commodities they produce, will be compiled and analyzed.
The goal is to present this information directly to Senators, Members of Parliament, and cabinet ministers, providing an accurate depiction of the financial burden faced by the agricultural community.
The campaign emphasizes the need for Bill C-234 in its original form, aiming to bridge the gap between the farm gate and Ottawa. Having already sent over 8,000 letters to Senators and the Prime Minister's office in the last two months, participants are now encouraged to #ShowTheReceipts, showcasing the real impact of the carbon tax on daily farming operations.
To contribute, farmers can upload their receipts on the campaign website, providing details such as their first name, province, commodities produced, and the carbon tax portion of their bills.
